About

More than 200 years ago, a group of dockworkers, without companies or formal systems, shared a simple belief: to contribute together and protect the land they lived on. They founded the “Fude Ye Temple Association,” not only to worship the Earth God, but also to safeguard each other’s lives and wish for peace, prosperity, and good harvests. Even the deity statue was crafted by the century-old traditional atelier “Xi Fo Guo.” Each carving reflects not only craftsmanship, but also the warmth of its era.

As time passed, most of the land and assets once held by the association were transferred, and its memory gradually faded. Yet one thing remained. The Earth God statue, once carried and worshipped in rotation among households, eventually settled at “Jinhua Temple” on Shennong Street, no longer wandering. The deity chose to stay, and faith took root in this place.

Jing Lin Yuan was born from this story of Fude Ye. With the support of the “Tainan City Historic Street Revitalization Ordinance,” the restoration project began in 2026, allowing the old house to breathe again.

Restoration is not about returning to the past, but about reinterpreting its meaning in the present while respecting history. Guided by the spirit of net-zero sustainability, the project carefully preserves the original structure while extending its life, continuing the connection between belief, people, and land into the present day.

Here, we hope to share a simple yet profound value: to eat well, live well, and get along well with one another. Starting from a single historic house, we connect the past with the future, carrying forward its cultural meaning and spirit into today.
